Another week and another high-profile match in the BOV Women’s League as joint-leaders Birkirkara and Swieqi United cross swords on Wednesday at the Mġarr Ground (kick-off: 20.15).

Mosta vs Hibernians (Tuesday – Mosta Ground, 20.15)

Mosta and Hibernians face each other with the Blues looking to add to their one-point tally while the Paolites are still searching for their first points of the season.

Last week, the Blues held Raiders Għargħur to a 1-1 draw while Hibernians succumbed to back-to-back defeats against Birkirkara and Swieqi before last week’s bye.

Meanwhile, the other league leaders Mġarr United meet Raiders Għargħur in their fourth game of the season.

After last week’s draw against Birkirkara, the Greens will be looking to get back to winning ways, knowing that either Birkirkara or Swieqi, possibly both, will drop points in their direct encounter.

On the other hand, Raiders have chalked up two points after draws against Swieqi and Mosta.

In the last matchday, the Stripes faced Mġarr with both teams leading the championship on six points. The match ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

The main beneficiaries from that match were Swieqi United who have joined the Stripes and the Greens at the top with seven points after easing past Kirkop United 5-0.

After a slow start to the season – a 1-1 draw with Raiders Għargħur – the Oranges obtained two straight wins against Hibernians and Kirkop United to get their title aspirations back on track.

With 13 goals scored, Swieqi boast the second-best attack and, together with Mġarr United, they have conceded the least amount of goals in three outings – one.

On the other hand, Birkirkara have the best attacking record in the championship so far with 16 goals scored, including four from Ethiopia international Loza Abera.

Last week, Birkirkara coach Melania Bajada handed a debut to new signing Esther Anu who last season was on the books of English side Portsmouth.

Birkirkara, Swieqi United, Mġarr United 7 points; Raiders Għargħur 2 points; Mosta 1; Kirkop United, Hibernians 0.

MD4 bye: Kirkop United.
