Luxol St Andrews won their direct clash with Valletta Futsal to go top of the Elite League. The match, played at the National Sport School, was an entertaining one with Luxol emerging 6-4 winners. Luxol captain Mark Zammit had good reason to celebrate as he scored twice to reach the 100-goal mark with his club. The other goals were scored by Giancarlo Sammut, Carl Azzopardi, Marwan Telisi and Everton Veve. Valletta had Dusan Rakic scoring a brace with the other goals coming from George Frendo and Mohamed Elmari. On Wednesday, Swieqi United obtained their first seasonal win after beating University of Malta Futsal Team (UM) 8-5. The score at half-time was 3-3 with the Universitarians establishing an early two-goal lead through Melvin Borg and Ivan Jovanovic who was sent off in the closing stages. Swieqi’s resilience paid off as they overturned the deficit with three goals in four minutes through Firas Aboulezz, Spanish Sergio Gonzales Morales and Aaron Montebello. Before the interval, Borg scored his second to make it 3-3. In the second period, two quick goals from Rodney Debono and Aboulezz gave Swieqi an edge but UM fought back. Christian Wismayer and debutant Swiss player Gabriel Buckson levelled the score at 5-5 but University suffered a late decline that proved costly. In the final two minutes, Swieqi scored three times through keeper Clyde Aquilina, Gonzalez Morales got his second, and Aboulezz completed his hat-trick for an 8-5 win. AMATEUR LEAGUE In the Amateur League, Swieqi United Futsal B edged Marsaskala 4-3 in a tight match at the De La Salle College. In the other match played last week, Luxol Futsal B had the better of Qormi Futsal 4-2. Żurrieq Futsal and Swieqi United B are sharing top spot in the Amateur League with six points. STANDINGS ELITE LEAGUELuxol SA 9; Valletta 6; Swieqi United, University of Malta 3. NEXT FIXTURES National Sport School (Kick-Off 20:45)Wednesday (06/11/19) – Luxol vs University of MaltaFriday (08/11/19) – Swieqi United vs Valletta AMATEUR LEAGUE STANDINGSŻurrieq Futsal, Swieqi United Team B 6; Luxol Team B 4; Marsaskala Futsal; South Boys 1; Qormi Futsal 0. NEXT FIXTURES (De La Salle College) Friday – 08/11/19 (19:30)South Boys vs Żurrieq Futsal Saturday – 09/11/19 (14:30)Marsaskala Futsal vs Luxol Team B
