Stripes look to open gap at the top as they face Raiders

Defending champions Birkirkara will be seeking to open a three-point lead at the top of the BOV Women's League as they face Raiders Għargħur on Matchday Seven. The Stripes currently share top spot with Mġarr United on 13 points but the Greens will not be in action this week and have played a game more than Birkirkara.  Kirkop United vs Hibernians (Tuesday – 20.15, Mosta Ground). Kirkop United will be chasing their second straight positive result as they take on Hibernians. Last week, the Reds edged Raiders Għargħur 2-1 to get off the mark after a difficult start to the season. Emily Pace and Kathryn Ellul were the scorers for Kirkop. Hibernians, on their part, are coming from a defeat to Mġarr United and occupy bottom spot in the table with just one point – a 1-1 draw with Mosta. Swieqi United vs Mosta (Tuesday – 20.15, Dingli Ground).Swieqi United have the chance to join Mġarr United on 13 points when they meet Mosta. Last week, the Oranges served a bye as Birkirkara and Mġarr moved three points clear. The last time Swieqi took the field was two weeks ago when they defeated the Greens 2-0 with a brace from Demi Magrin. Meanwhile, Mosta suffered a 5-1 defeat to Birkirkara in their last match where, at one point, they were trailing by just one goal when they pulled one back through Leah Alice Ayres. The Blues have two points from four games played. Birkirkara vs Raiders Għargħur (Tuesday – 20.15, Mġarr Ground).Birkirkara face Raiders Għargħur as they look to secure their sixth victory of the season. The Stripes defeated Mosta 5-1 last week with Ethiopia international Loza Abera netting a hat-trick – she has now scored eight goals in five games since joining the Stripes. English player Esther Anu also put her name on the scoresheet as the newcomers seem to be adapting well to coach Melania Bajada’s instructions. On the other hand, Raiders will be kicking themselves after not gaining any points from their latest encounter against Kirkop United.
