The Malta Football Association has initiated the 17th UEFA Licensing System Cycle. Premier League clubs have been invited to submit an application which, once granted, will enable the successful applicants to participate in UEFA competitions if they qualify for these competitions on sporting merits. Women's football teams that have an interest in taking part in next season's UEFA Women's Champions League must also apply for a UEFA club licence. Provided they have satisfied the requirements to be granted a UEFA club licence, the winners of the BOV Women's League will represent Malta in the 2020-21 UEFA Women's Champions League.
