The 2019-20 FA Trophy quarter-finals draw, held on Friday, produced a host of enticing matches.

BOV Premier League leaders Floriana face Birkirkara in one of the most attractive FA Trophy quarter-final encounters, holders Balzan meet Pietà Hotspurs, the only team outside the top flight to reach the quarter-finals, Valletta meet Gudja United and Hibernians will face Ħamrun Spartans.

Floriana and Birkirkara have already met twice in the league with a narrow 1-0 win for each side. Judging by these results, this cup tie promises to be balanced and gripping affair possibly going down to the wire.

Hibernians take on Ħamrun Spartans with the latter prevailing 2-1 in the first round of the BOV Premier League.

Their FA Trophy quarter-final is scheduled to be played a few days before their second-round league encounter, therefore back-to-back fixtures in different competitions for the Paolites and Spartans.

Champions Valletta, last season’s losing finalists, will be involved in another all-Premier League encounter with Gudja United. In their first-round league match, Valletta edged Gudja United 1-0.

Dr Angelo Chetcuti, the Malta FA General Secretary, and Stephen Azzopardi, the newly-appointed Director of Football Operations, presided over the draw.
