The Malta Football Association is saddened to learn the news that John Darmanin has passed away. He was 82.


Born on September 4, 1938, Darmanin made one appearance for the national team, coming on as a substitute in the friendly win (1-0) against Tunisia, played on 8 December, 1960 at the Empire Stadium.

 

At club level, Darmanin, who is the father of former Malta goalkeeper Saviour Darmanin, spent six seasons with Valletta between 1958 and 1964. He also played for Vittoriosa Stars, his hometown club, and St George’s.

 

The Malta FA conveys its profound condolences to the family and friends of John Darmanin at this sad time. 

 

His funeral will take place on Thursday at the Annunciation Church, Vittoriosa. Mass commences at 8.30 a.m.
