Jurgen Degabriele wins BOV player of the month award

Hibernians forward Jurgen Degabriele is the winner of the BOV player of the month award for the September-October period. Degabriele has been a prominent figure in Hibernians’ encouraging start to the season, scoring five goals in the opening seven games to steer his team to the top of the standings, level with Sliema Wanderers on 16 points going into matchday eight.In agreement with sponsors Bank Of Valletta, the voting concept of the BOV Premier League player of the month has been revamped to include all BOV Premier League coaches and team managers (who cannot vote for players from their own team), members of the Malta FA Technical Centre coaching staff and representatives of the media. Votes are submitted online.This format change is intended to further elevate the value of this monthly award, complementing the efforts of the Malta FA to improve different aspects of the national football leagues.Degabriele, 24, thus becomes the winner of the first BOV Premier League of the Month award for season 2020/21 after attaining the highest number of points ahead of Gudja United forward Yuri De Jesus Messias and Mosta forward Bojan Kaljevic. Gżira United defender Steve Borg and Sliema Wanderers forward Jean Paul Farrugia were fourth and fifth respectively.The presentation of the BOV player of the month award will be held in due course. As in previous years, BOV will be making a financial donation to a charity or non-profit organisation chosen by the winner of the BOV player of the month award.
