The Malta Futsal Team have concluded another useful training camp at the National Sport School with head coach Zeljko Anicic drawing a lot of positives as he singled out the constant progress shown by his squad which included a host of young players. “I am pleased with the commitment shown by the boys during this one-week training camp,” Anicic told www.mfa.com.mt. “For some of them, this was their first ever experience with the national squad. With a number of established players either unavailable or absent due to injury, the young players seized the opportunity and I’m sure that this experience will stand them in good stead for the future. “There is a crop of young players who have a bright future ahead of them. I am very satisfied with the attitude and willingness of all the players involve as they strive to improve their standards.” The training camp rounded off with two friendly matches against foreign players engaged with local clubs with the latter prevailing 5-1 and 4-3. Revieving the friendly games, Anicic said: “Unfortunately, we didn’t get going in the first game but improved in the second match on Saturday. The second friendly was balanced with the score level at 3-3 before they scored a winner, aided by their flying keeper, 20 seconds from time.” Looking ahead, the Malta futsal coach said these regular training camps are important for the development of the national team and conveyed his appreciation to the Malta FA for their support. “We have strengthened our technical team and we’re grateful for the Association’s backing which underlines a collective commitment to raise the bar and work together towards a better future for the Malta futsal team,” Anicic said.
