Fourth futsal training camp to be held next week

Another training camp for the Malta futsal squad, the fourth in the last five months, will take place next week as part of the ongoing commitment to improve the level of our national team and further support the development of local futsal players. National futsal Zeljko Anicic has selected a squad of 20 players for this one-week stage, kicking off on Monday at the National School of Sports in Pembroke and rounding off with friendly matches which will enable the coaching staff to assess the progress of the team in view of future commitments. Anicic has made five changes from the squad for the previous training camp, held precisely a month ago. Luxol duo, keeper Stefan Vella and Carl Azzopardi have been recalled together with Steven Camilleri. The Swieqi United player was part of the shadow squad for the January training camp. Three new players have received their first call-up to the senior squad – Andrè Cachia, of Swieqi United Futsal, Jean Noel Azzopardi, who plays for Naxxar Lions Futsal, and 18-year old Ryan Gatt who is enjoying a very positive season with Valletta FC Futsal. The squad comprises a host of established players, the likes of captain Mark Zammit, Andy Mangion, Melvin Borg and Andrè Ciancio. FUTSAL SQUAD Goalkeepers – Clint Mifsud (Valletta Futsal), Stefan Vella (Luxol St Andrews Futsal), Brandon Debono (Valletta Futsal), Dylan Cacciatolo (UOM Futsal). Outfield – Andy Mangion, Dylan Musu, Mark Zammit, Carl Azzopardi (Luxol St Andrews Futsal); Michael Borg, Steven Camilleri, Karl Sciortino, Andrè Cachia (Swieqi United Futsal); Melvin Borg, Andrè Ciancio, Georg Frendo, Claudio Venuto, Ryan Gatt (Valletta FC Futsal); Stefan Camilleri (UOM Futsal); Armando Gjepali (Mellieħa Futsal); Jean Noel Azzopardi (Naxxar Lions Futsal).
