Beach Soccer action finally back on Thursday

Beach Soccer Events are finally back after an eight year absence. It all kicks off on Thursday with first highly contested matches from the main tournament that is the Nestle Ice-Cream Beach Soccer League for men, with youth leagues for both genders starting off in early July. In all a total of four competitions :- 1.            Nestle Ice-Cream Beach Soccer League (Men)                     Thursday 17th June till Sunday 18th July2.            U16 Girls Beach Soccer Tournament                                        Tuesday 6th July till Saturday 10th July3.            U15 Boys Beach Soccer Tournament                                        Monday 12th July till Saturday 17th July4.            U17 Boys Beach Soccer Tournament                                        Monday 19th July till Saturday 24th July During a Press Conference to launch this Beach Soccer comeback, Malta Beach Soccer President Pio Vassallo expressed his positive feelings that after months of hard work, all efforts are finally coming into fruition with this eagerly awaited comeback after the dormant eight years Beach Soccer in Malta has experienced. “I’m pretty confident this will be a successful journey for all involved, big thanks to our sponsors, and we’re all really excited for this new beginning, we are working so hard to enhance the image of the sport. “We are resolute to identify good players that can take this country to the next level when it comes to Beach Soccer, this is more than just a competition, we will also pursue the growth and development of our Beach Soccer players who will surely be motivated not just to lift the ultimate prize at the end of the season, but also showcase their talent to be selected for upcoming international appointments coming up, Pio Vassallo concluded. The subject of the National Team was also in mind of Head of Beach Soccer within the Malta Football Association Mark Marlow, highlighting the fact that the level between the sides is so high therefore competition will be intense. “Through this competition and this Beach Soccer comeback we want to leave a legacy, not just a competition, and all is forgotten at the end of summer, whereas we want to see our Beach Soccer stars flourish and improve, also determined to make a career out of this sport and represent our country on the international stage. Marlow added, “We will also keep an eye on our Youth competitions, as already declared Beach Soccer is here to stay, therefore we will be looking to instil inside our young players the ambition to work hard and beyond the summer months, as there are ample opportunities for them beyond home shores and the realistic possibility of representing Malta, if they illustrate determination and commitment to strive forward and grow further in Beach Soccer.
