An agreement has been signed between the Malta Football Association, the Archidiocese of Malta and St Joseph Home on the construction of an artificial football pitch at St Joseph Home in Santa Venera. This project is partly funded by the UEFA Foundation for Children and the rest will be covered by the Malta FA’s Football Social Responsibility fund.  With the agreement signed, the new pitch is earmarked to be used for projects run by Fondazzjoni Inħobb il-Football, in particular the regional football hubs. Besides, it will also cater for Social Responsibility initiatives that are organised on a regular basis by the Malta FA. The agreement was signed by Dr Angelo Chetcuti, General Secretary of the Association. “Football is much more than its competitive aspect”, he said. “It is part of the Association’s mission to use the game’s appeal for social objectives such as inclusion, education and integration. The Malta FA is committed to bring the game closer to people, including those who might need more support than others”. The Home Director, Fr Louis Mallia welcomed this agreement. He stated that “it is of great satisfaction to see the children of the home enjoy better facilities which contribute to a better quality of life. The Home is also satisfied to be able to contribute beyond its boundaries by sharing its facilities to be used for projects that are aimed at development opportunities for children”. The Property Manager of the Archidiocese, Mr Roberto Buontempo, was also present for the signing of the agreement, which provides for the use of the facility for 10 years following the completion of the works being financed by the Malta FA.
