U21 Team final squad for September qualifiers announced

The Malta Under 21 Team has on Monday intensified preparations ahead of the double fixture, as Group C of the UEFA European U21 Championship is getting underway.


A home fixture on Friday against Northern Ireland (KO 16:30h) is followed with a daunting task for the Malta U21 Team as they are due to face Russia at their own backyard in Khimki on Tuesday next week.

 

This is the first competitive experience for U21 coach Gilbert Agius having propelled this new look side to some notable experience and team bonding exercise before summer during a weeklong training camp in Slovenia.

 

Barring first two opponents (Northern Ireland and Russia) for Malta and matches lined-up in the coming days, the boys will be facing other tough opponents in this competition coming up in a group also comprising Spain, Russia, Slovakia and Lithuania.

 

Floriana with 5 players and Santa Lucia with 4 are the clubs most represented in this Malta U21 Team for the upcoming two matches, and ensuing the final 23-man squad announcement on Sunday by coach Gilbert Agius.
