PROGRES project is an Erasmus plus co-funded programme, aimed to promote gender equality in sports.

This is the second transnational project meeting to be held in Malta in conjunction with the Malta Football Association.

A total of three football federations and 4 technical partners, supported by UEFA are participating in this programme.

Alongside the Malta FA, other federations are the ones representing Norway and the Football Federation of Macedonia.

One of the objectives of this program is to promote awareness and completely abolish gender inequality within the management of football federations/associations, whereby to identify all underlying parameters which need to be addressed.

The programme is also entrusted with the task of furnishing examples in terms of good practice and in order to provide input to future strategies on gender equality in football.

Barring the overriding priority of promoting gender equality in football and encouraging social inclusion and equal opportunities in the sports sector specifically in football, the overall objective of this PROGRES project is also to improve the participation of women in the management and administration of football associations/federations, while employees of these organizations and stakeholders in project areas will be able to identify the benefits of equal opportunities and adopt a gender-mainstreaming attitude promoting gender equality in football.

The improved participation of women in the male-dominated field of managing football associations/federations will constitute an exemplary practice of promoting equal opportunities in football and will create opportunities for similar projects and approaches going forward in other sports.

The project’s approach is based on the proposal including 4 stages whereby the scope is that of identifying and addressing the inclusion of women in the management of football federations, thus promoting equal opportunities and social inclusion in sports, in terms of identification, awareness and sustainability, amongst other matters.
