Kristensen, Degabriele and Jefferson in the limelight

The last 2021/22 BOV Premier Division match day before the Christmas break brought us once again another number of interesting statistics, which includes milestones by international Hibernians players Bjorn Kristensen and Jurgen Degabriele and Gzira United forward Jefferson de Assis. Gzira's Darren Abdilla also reached a memorable milestone in his coaching career.

25 – Bjorn Kristensen’s late winner against Gudja United last Sunday was the 25th league goal for Hibernians this season and are therefore the most productive team in the 2021/2 BOV Premier Division so far.


30 – International Sliema Wanderers defender Kurt Shaw was sent off for a dangerous challenge in a 2-1 defeat against Floriana, which was the 30th red card of the season. 


50 – Michael Mifsud became the 50th substitute for Mosta this season. The veteran striker entered the field of play on 73 minutes to replace Roderick Briffa in a 3-2 loss against Sirens. 


50 – Jurgen Degabriele’s opening goal in Hibernians 2-1 victory against Gudja United was not only the 50th game in which he put his name on the scoresheet, but also the 40th in which he bagged a one solitary goal and as well the 30th goal he netted in the first half. 


100 – The 2-2 draw against Sta Lucia was the 100th match in which coach Darren Abdilla managed Gzira United the top division. 


110 – Paul Fenech’s winning goal in Balzan’s 2-1 win over Valletta was his personal third against the Citizens in top flight, 110 months (or 3360 days) have passed since his second achievement, which was on the 6th October 2012, when he equalised for Birkirkara in a 1-1 draw.  


120 – Bjorn Kristensen netted the 120th goal from open play in this season’s BOV Premier Division when he scored the winner in stoppage time in Hibernians’ 2-1 victory over Gudja United. 


200 – Brazilian forward Jefferson de Assis scored the 200th goal of the season. He reduced the deficit for Gzira United in a 2-2 draw against Santa Lucia. 


500 – Brazilian Patrick Silva Mota became the 500th substitute of the season. He replaced Jan Tanti in the 64th minute in Santa Lucia’s 2-2 draw against Gzira United.
