This week, a selected number of coaches currently working in the youth sector had the possibility to witness a practical session by leading UK coaches as part of their CPD session.  Football coaches in Malta are expected to attend continuous professional development (CPD) sessions to entitle them to be able to renew the licence.  Licences are valid for a set period and is only renewable following the attendance of specific CPDs held by the Malta FA.  In January the Malta FA technical centre offered a CPD session with a difference.  A limited number of coaches currently assisting clubs in the Under 13 and Under 17 age groups and/or Youth Nursery head coaches followed this CPD session that was addressed by Joe Sutton and Christian Vassallo. Both coaches work closely to Academies in the UK and during the session they gave insight of a typical UK professional academy session highlighting the importance of the coordination between the Fitness Coach and the Coach in the Development Process of Youth Football Players.  The session unfolded in the Centenary Stadium with the coaches experiencing a practical session with the Malta FA U14 Regional Hubs by Sutton and Vassallo. Joe Sutton serves as a professional scout for Manchester United, English FA Tutor & Talent ID manager with 15 years global experience in the professional game. He has proven credentials in identifying and developing a supply line of emerging talent for the long term success of clubs at the highest level of the game. Chris Vassallo is a S&C coach & Sport Scientist who has worked in elite sport for the last decade. He has helped develop athletes who have established themselves within the English Premier League, La Liga and senior international level. His methods are founded upon foundational principles of training in sport and exercise science
