FSR: Maya Lucia speaks at MCAST as part of the ‘Outraged’campaign

‘Supporters must not join in racist chants, but it is of utmost importance that they also stop the person/s doing the action/s’ said National Women’s team player Maya Lucia Maya Lucia, who scored four goals in Malta U19’s double friendly away against Cyprus, was speaking at MCAST, as part of the ‘Outraged’ UEFA Campaign organised by the Football Social Responsibility Department which is another branch of the Inħobb il-Futbol Foundation.  Lucia met students and talked about her own personal experience of racism and discrimination.  The students were shown excerpts from the documentary ‘Outraged’, launched by UEFA, in which players from both the men’s and women’s game give their personal views on racism, sexism and homophobia, whereas tackling the issue of discrimination in football head-on. Lucia explained that it is important that players speak out as they are the ones who suffer discrimination at first hand.   Football should be the tool to raise awareness and lead the way in tackling discrimination.
