Malta FA delegation attends the 72nd FIFA Congress held in Doha

Malta delegation headed by MFA President, Bjorn Vassallo, attended the 72nd FIFA Congress held in Doha on 31st March 2022. During the gathering of all 211 member associations, amongst other items on the agenda, FIFA presented the Annual Report of Activities for the year 2021 and the Financial Statements which were approved by the Congress. In the closing speech delivered by FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, the incumbent announced his intention of seeking re-election when his mandate ends in 2023.  The MFA President was accommpanied in Qatar by Dr Angelo Chetcuti, General Secretary and Ivan Mizzi, Treasurer. During the stay in the Gulf country, the Malta FA delegation held bilateral meetings with UEFA officials on the UEFA European U19 Championship Finals which will be held in Malta in July 2023 and attended a FASSE (Football Associations Small States of Europe) meeting which focused on the changes being proposed by UEFA for national team competitions. Whilst in Doha the delegation also was present for the World Cup Qatar 2022 final draw.
