FIFA Futsal World Cup Qualifying Group B

Malta ……... 0

Denmark …. 8

An injury and COVID hit Malta Futsal Team on Wednesday found it extremely hard against a strong Denmark team going down 8-0 in their FIFA Futsal World Cup Qualifying Group opener in Trondheim.

Marwan Telissi, Karl Azzopardi, Jovica Milijic, Andre Ciancio, Michael Borg, Jean Noel Azzopardi and Andy Mangion all missed the trip to Scandinavia, therefore this has been a bigger task for coach Zeljko Anicic to unleash his strongest line-up for this daunting World Cup challenge.

Denmark broke the deadlock on 08'43'' in the first period through Louis Veis, thirteen seconds after an owngoal followed paving the way for the Danes to cruise comfortably for the rest of the first period.

Kevin Jørgensen added a third on the stroke of half-time.

The second period was very similar with Malta now chasing the result and the physical magnitude of our opponents that rendered the situation even worse for the boys.

100 seconds into the second half Louis Veis added his second, before Jeppe Laursen made it 5-0 midway through the second period.

Louis Veis netted his hat-trick with the sixth for Denmark before two more goals late on netted by Emil Rasmussen and Josef Moussa for the Danes.
