Norway secured their first three points in this World Cup Qualifying group, having lost their opening match unexpectedly to Cyprus on Wednesday, they wanted to secure maximum points from this match also justifying their billing as contender from home territories for qualification in this group in Trondheim, they notched a 9-1 win over Malta on Thursday night.


The Malta boys gave their all however the experience of missing key players for this tournament is taking its toll albeit a pleasant note of first goal scored by Malta in this daunting tournament.


Norway ahead after four minutes through Oskar Andreassen, shortly after they doubled their lead with Andre Eggen netting the second after 6”14.


Malta struck soon after the seven minute mark through foreign based Giancarlo Sammut who is currently playing his trade in France having started this current season also abroad taking the plunge and raising his standards in the Polish championship.


As Malta were chasing to level the score, before the interval Norway added three more goal through Adrian Skinlo, Christopher Moen and Erlend Tjøtta Vie.


In the second period Norway continued to dominate and show their true force with four more goals as Christopher Moen scored the sixth for the Vikings, with three more goals following through Sindre Welo, a second also for Erlend Tjøtta Vie, and indeed a hat-trick for Christopher Moen for a final result of 9-1 for Norway.


Malta is now eliminated they will show resolute and full desire once again on Saturday early afternoon as they bow out of the tournament with final match facing Cyprus who are stronger than expected, yet unbeaten having played their toughest matches thus far already, beating Norway and snatching a point in a 2-2 draw with Denmark, therefore our opponents on Saturday will surely be firing on all cylinders to attain a hugely unexpected Qualification from this qualifying group.
