It will again be Hibernians and Qormi to face each other in this year’s U*BET FA Trophy final at Ta’ Qali National Stadium on Wednesday.22nd May. The two teams had met last year with the Paolites emerging winners 3-1 to lift their 9th title in this competition. On their part, Qormi will appear in their third final since 2010 when they lost to Valletta 2-1.

The 75th Final of the F.A. Trophy will see fans of both teams rally behind their favourites, with the Qormi clan hoping that their side will at last break their duck in this second most prestigious competition of Maltese football, and the Paolites longing for some sort of redemption after their disappointment in the championship decider the previous weekend against Birkirkara when they lost 3-1

Although Hibernians may have more heavyweights in their side as well as a posse of technically gifted players, Qormi can never be dismissed. After all, anything can happen in a football match, and given the collective quality of their units, a win for the yellow blacks may in no way be regarded as a surprise.

It all depends on the form on the day, chances taken or missed, luck or ill-luck and many other technical elements and particular episodes on the field of play. That is the beauty of the game.

Whatever it is, there will be victors and vanquished. May the best team win, but, most important, may football come up trumps.

Will it be third time lucky for Qormi, or will Hibernians be the fourth team – after Sliema (20), Floriana (19) and Valletta (12) to make it a double figure success after having won this honour nine times in their history?
