A competitive away victory for Malta after 20 years.

Malta stood firm to keep Armenia at bay and manage a history 1-0 away victlory. Their first positive result in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil qualification  matches and a first away win in a competitive match in 20 years.  The all important goal was scored by captain Michael Mifsud after 8 minutes of play after receiving a well timed through pass from Gareth Sciberras. This was Michael's 37th goal for Malta in 98 matches, wearing the red and white shirt. The boys, dressed all in white for the occasion, stood firm from then on to the almost continuous onslaught by the Armenians with keeper Justin Haber and defender Alex Muscat featuring amongst the best performance on the day. Nonetheless credit is to be given to all the players who battled their hearts out throughout the 90 minutes..   FIFA World Cup Qualifier Brazil 2014   Armenia  vs. Malta  FT 0-1 (HT 0-1)   Scorers: M.
