The 2014 World Cup Brazil chapter has just been archived. The next international competitive venture will be the European Championship 2016 group matches, the draws of which will be made in Nice, France, on the 23rd February 2014.  In view of this, preparation will be underway with a series of friendly matches which will start a fresh page. The first commitment is due at the Ta' Qali National Stadium on Tuesday 19th November at 19.00hrs against the Faroe Islands. The match will be another opportunity for national coach Pietro Ghedin to delve further into the possibility of introducing fresh material in Malta’s squad and give them the necessary exposure at international level. The last international venture provided our mentors with an insight of adequate technical and tactical levels, including improved fitness, even if these bars were somewhat blurred in a couple of World Cup group matches. Ghedin hopes to start on a satisfactory note and the friendly match against the Faroe Islands will give him the opportunity of sizing up the players he has at his disposal. Other friendlies will follow and with that the opportunity of monitoring more faces for the national team within the context of further technical and tactical improvement. It is hoped that this new preparatory cycle will give desired results.
