Malta’s Women National Team suffered their third defeat in as many matches in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 Qualification Group, when they were beaten 3-0 by Serbia at the Centenary Stadium.  The visitors opened the scoring as early as the 3rd minute when a through pass from midfield found D. Damjanovic in a face to face situation with only Malta keeper Xuereb to beat to make it 1-0. This goal increased the confidence of the Serbs who almost made it two nil after18 minutes, but for a fine save by Xuereb. Malta had a rear break after 34 minutes with D. Theuma beautifully serving R. Cuschieri who shot wide from an ideal position. After 4 minutes Serbia made it 2-0 with a header from J. Cubrilo from a corner kick, and almost made it three on the 42 minute mark with Savanovic hitting the crossbar. Malta defender S. Farrugia came to the rescue clearing a Cubrilo lob off the line, seven minutes into the second half and this sparked off a reaction from the home side who were now taking the initiative. Y. Carabott shot harmlessly at the Serb goalkeeper after a good run on 67 minutes.  Serbian keeper Nilsson anticipated D. Tonna to palm the ball into a corner from a Theuma freekick on 73 minutes and 4 minutes later a fine move between B. Borg and D.Theuma ended up with R. Cuschieri’s first time shot sailing over the bar from Theuma’s low cross. D. Theuma was again protagonist with a solo effort on 82 minutes with her final shot being saved into a corner by Nilsson. Malta’s efforts were given a final blow when 6 minutes from time the Serbs scored from a counter attack concluded by Cankovic. Full Match Report.  FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 Qualifiers, Group 3    Malta  vs. Serbia  FT 0 - 3 (HT 0 - 2)    Scorers: J.
