The last four teams still in the U*BET FA Trophy competition will be playing todayWednesday, with Valletta facing Gżira United followed by the clash between Sliema Wanderers and Qormi.

A competition which rewards the winning team with the second highest honour in Maltese football is bound to attract increasing interest as it reaches its final stages. Three teams, Sliema, 20 times winners of the Trophy, Valletta, 12 times, and Qormi, who have appeared in the last two consecutive finals and the fourth overall, hail from the top league, while Gżira, winners in 1973, are the representatives of the First Division, the second tier league.

Although the City team and the Wanderers have a better pedigree than their opponents, results in such a competition cannot be predicted hastily. Valletta will have to impose themselves early in the match against the Maroons in order to avoid embarrassing moments. The same applies to the Blues if they want to shrug off the challenge of a Qormi team which has recently found their scoring touch in their relegation pool matches.

Supporters of all four contestants will no doubt roll up their sleeves and provide vocal backing to their favourites.
