Defender Zach Muscat stressed that all the players in the Malta squad are unified in their conviction that they can go out and get a positive result against Lithuania in today’s 2018 World Cup Group F qualifier at the National Stadium (20.45). “I believe that all the players are well aware that this is a game where we can take points,” Muscat said. “We know our capabilities and we know the errors we’ve made. “Although in the games against England (0-4) and Scotland (0-2), results didn’t go our way, if you take certain points from both matches, we showed that we can hold our own against players of a certain calibre. “If we go out on the pitch with the right attitude and confidence, and adhere to the coach’s instructions, we can take points from this game. I’m convinced about it.” The 24-year-old Arezzo defender conveyed his gratitude to Ghedin for showing faith in him but insisted that the players are only focusing on doing well in their final two 2018 World Cup qualifiers. “I would like to thank the national coach because he was the person who showed faith in me and gave me the chance to play for the national team,” Muscat said. “But this doesn’t mean that we are thinking about his decision... we’re only focusing on these two matches to try and give our best.”
