The FSR Department under the helm of the Inhobb il-Football Foundation recently organized a Football Festival Event at San Gorg Preca College Secondary School in Hamrun, as part of their promotional efforts for the upcoming U19 UEFA tournament scheduled to take place in July.

Football Sessions and Physical Training

Throughout the day, a series of football sessions were organized to offer students the opportunity to showcase their skills and learn from experienced coaches. The FSR department staff designed engaging training exercises, focusing on various aspects of the game such as passing, shooting, dribbling, and teamwork. These sessions not only provided valuable practice to the students but also instilled a sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship among them.

In addition to football-specific training, physical training activities were included to enhance the overall fitness levels of the boys and girls.  The students were guided through exercises and drills aimed at improving their strength, endurance, agility, and flexibility. These physical training sessions emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle, contributing to their holistic development both on and off the field.

The UEFA U19 Tournament Promotion

Furthermore, the event served as a platform to promote the upcoming U19 UEFA tournament. The FSR department staff passionately shared information about the tournament, its significance, and the opportunities it provides to young talents. They highlighted the importance of such tournaments in nurturing talent, providing exposure, and enabling players to compete at an international level. The attendees were encouraged to participate and embrace this exciting opportunity to showcase their skills and represent their country on a grand stage.

Diversity and Inclusivity in Football

As part of the promotional event, the screening of the UEFA documentary, "Outraged," took place, shedding light on the challenges faced by marginalized communities and individuals within the football world.  This initiative is part of a UEFA project, with the Malta FA being one of the three pilot National Associations (NAs) involved.  Following the documentary, an educational session on diversity and inclusivity in football was held to raise awareness and foster a more inclusive environment within the sport.

The session emphasized the importance of treating everyone with respect, regardless of their background, ethnicity, gender, or any other characteristic. Through interactive discussions, the young players were encouraged to embrace diversity and celebrate differences, understanding that unity and inclusion enhance the beauty of the sport and create a more harmonious society.
