A first ever participation in the Enemed Futsal League for the Malta U19 Team

The Malta Under19 Team will this season and for the first time ever take part in the Enemed Futsal League 2022/23.

In total ten teams will participate in this top-tier championship this season with the introduction of a Malta FA development team arguably the keynote change in this campaign rolling.

This development team will include a selection of U19 players who will be participating in this domestic competition in preparation for the U19 Futsal National Team and the busy schedule right ahead.

The squad contains twenty players in total coming from the Youth system and grassroots of established clubs like Sliema Wanderers, Balzan, Pieta’ Hotspurs, and Floriana, amongst others.

This Malta FA Futsal development team has set the ball rolling long ago in preparation for this domestic competition and in setting up a well-prepared side ready to face international challenges.

In total the team has undergone seven training camps leading up to their busy schedule ahead.

Some of the players in this U19 squad have also conducted regular sessions with the senior squad until this week, being involved in preparations carried out ahead of a friendly in Estonia for the senior team scheduled to be played in Tallinn on Friday.

All this preparation culminates in the UEFA U19 Preliminary Round participation for the boys early next year.

The technical staff of this Malta U19 Team is made up of Carlo Scicluna as a coach, Cedric Sciberras as his Assistant, Brian Baldacchino in his role of Goalkeeper’s Coach, and Hertian Salameh Cachia assigned in his duties of Team’s Coordinator, all this overseen by Mark Marlow as Head of Futsal within the Association.

Meanwhile, before league proceedings get underway, the Futsal season kicks off with the Enemed Futsal Super Cup between champions Luxol St. Andrew's and trophy winners University of Malta Futsal team on Friday week, 30th September.
